Erdogan urges US to revise decision to revoke Palestinian visas ahead of UN assembly
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Washington's move to refuse visas to Palestinian officials, including President Mahmoud Abbas, barring them from attending the UN General Assembly this month.
A number of countries are set to recognise Palestinian statehood at the assembly, which will be held in New York on 9 September.
Erdogan told reporters that the decision "does not fit the United Nations' raison d'etre" and that it needs to be "urgently revised".
"The United Nations General Assembly exists for the issues of the world to be discussed and for solutions to be found," he added.
