Macron calls on US to reverse decision denying visas to Palestinian officials attending UNGA
French President Emmanuel Macron has said the US's decision to deny visas to Palestinian officials to attend the UN General Assembly in September, where France and other countries plan to recognise a Palestinian state, is "unacceptable" and has asked the US to reverse its decision.
In a post on X, he said, "The American decision not to grant visas to Palestinian officials is unacceptable. We call for this measure to be reversed and for Palestinian representation to be ensured in accordance with the Host Country Agreement.
"Our objective is clear: to rally the broadest possible international support for the Two-State Solution - the only way to meet the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians...".
He also added that, "no offensive, annexation attempt, or forced displacement of populations will derail the momentum we have created with the Crown Prince".
The 80th UNGA session begins on 9 September.
Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will co-chair a conference on the Two-State Solution in New York on 22 September.
