West Bank: Israeli authorities force Palestinian man to pay to demolish his own home
Israeli authorities made a Palestinian man demolish his own home in the Shu'fat refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem on Friday, Wafa news agency reported.
Abdallah Hawwas received a demolition order from the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem, which said that two apartments he had constructed were not 'permitted' and threatened him with hefty fines if he did not demolish them himself. The apartments were home to seven members of his family.
Hawwas had to pay an estimated 30,000 shekels ($8,924) to rent machinery to carry out the demolition himself.
