Israeli attacks have killed at least 50 Palestinians across Gaza, including at least seven children, in attacks on Gaza City as Israel's genocide enters its 700th day.

In other developments:

• The assault on the northern city continued into Saturday, with reports of deadly strikes on homes inside the Shati refugee camp.

• Amnesty International warned Israel’s escalating offensive on Gaza City will cause “catastrophic and irreversible consequences” for Palestinians.

• Asked about truce talks, President Donald Trump said the US is in “very deep negotiations with Hamas.” He added he had heard that some of the 20 captives thought to be alive “have recently died.”

• Shahed Ghoreishi, a former US State Department official dismissed after clashes with staff at the US embassy in Israel, accused Washington of facilitating “Israeli annexation.”

• WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged Israel to halt what he called the “catastrophe” of people starving to death in Gaza, saying at least 370 people have died from malnutrition since the war began.

• Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said the EU’s credibility on foreign policy is “collapsing” over its failure to act on Israel’s war on Gaza.

• The European Commission distanced itself from comments made by Vice-President Teresa Ribera, who called Israel’s actions in Gaza a genocide.
