Gaza government: Over 1.3m remain in Gaza City despite Israeli forced displacement attempts

Over 1.3m people remain in Gaza City and areas north of it despite attempts by the Israeli army "to carry out the crime of forced displacement in violation of all international laws”, according to Gaza's Government Media Office.

The office reported in a statement that those who had fled the city for the so-called "safe zone" in al-Mawasi in the south had been forced to return due to dire living conditions in the area.

Around 800,000 people have fled to al-Mawasi- an area which Israel has targeted at least 109 times, killing over 2000 people, according to the Government Media Office.
