Israeli military targets Hamas leadership in Doha
Israeli air strikes hit the Qatari capital Doha on Tuesday, targeting senior Hamas officials who had gathered to discuss the latest US ceasefire proposal for Gaza.
Multiple explosions were heard in the city, with smoke seen rising over the Katara district.
The Israeli army confirmed it had conducted an assassination attempt on senior Hamas leadership, which it claimed helmed the organisations' activities. It added that the attack was conducted in coordination with Israeli intelligence agency Shin Bet.
A senior Hamas source told Al Jazeera that the leadership had been discussing US President Donald Trump's proposal for a Gaza ceasefire at the time of the attack.
