Iranian media has published fresh details about the 11-day conflict with Israel, including about aerial engagement between the warring parties.

In an interview published by Mehr News on 6 September, Iranian pilots recounted stories of challenges they faced during the war. The pilots’ faces were blurred in the footage

They said they witnessed hesitation and nervousness from Israeli pilots during close aerial missile exchanges. Some of the pilots said that one engagement over Iranian skies was more than an hour long.

According to Jamaran News, citing Iranian Air Force Commander Hamid Vahedi, Iranian pilots took part in missions during which they downed a number of advanced Israeli drones. Vahedi said that details on this were not divulged due to security considerations.

Middle East Eye could not independently verify the report.

Last week, on 4 September, Iranian media published footage of Iranian forces launching missiles while Israel was bombing the launch sites.

In one such video, published by Mehr News, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) operators are seen launching ballistic missiles at a time when their positions were under intense Israeli bombardment.

One IRGC operator said, as reported by Khabar Online, that he was thrown back four metres after an Israeli missile struck a launcher.

Analysts observed that Israeli attacks forced Iran to launch long-range missiles towards Israel from deeper inside Iran, rather than from the west of the country.

Israel launched attacks on Iran on 13 June, saying that it wanted to remove any chance of Tehran developing nuclear weapons.

It attacked Iranian nuclear and military facilities, and assassinated high-profile security, intelligence and military figures, as well as nuclear scientists.

Tehran, which denies it seeks a nuclear weapon, retaliated with ballistic missile strikes on Israeli towns and cities. At least 935 Iranians were killed and 28 people in Israel.

Israel reportedly utilised over 200 fighter jets to drop hundreds of munitions across Iran.

Meanwhile, the US bombed Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz, marking the first American strikes on Iranian soil.

Iran reportedly fired around 550 ballistic missiles and more than 1,000 drones at Israel in response. Iranian strikes on cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa caused major damage, completely destroying apartment buildings and other sites.

Over the weekend, two months after the war, Israeli authorities permitted the publication of footage showing an Iranian missile striking an area in Haifa which houses government offices.

Whilst a ceasefire was agreed in late June, there are concerns in Iran of a renewed conflict.

Last month, President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that he did not consider the conflict between Iran and Israel to be “necessarily conclusive”.
