Israel's attack on Doha violates Qatar's territorial sovereignty, says Germany
Germany on Tuesday condemned Israeli air strikes targeting Hamas political leaders in Doha, calling them unacceptable, news agency AFP reported.
"Israel's attack on Doha not only violates Qatar's territorial sovereignty, but also jeopardizes all our efforts to secure the release of the hostages. This attack is unacceptable," Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said in a statement.
Israeli air strikes hit Doha, targeting senior Hamas officials who had gathered to discuss the latest US ceasefire proposal for Gaza. The Israeli military confirmed it had carried out the strikes, saying it targeted Hamas’s senior leadership.
Hamas said that its leadership has survived Israeli air strikes, but five members of its delegation were killed, including the son of senior leader Khalil al-Hayya.
A member of Qatar's security forces was also killed, the country's interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Countries including Pakistan, the UAE and Turkey have condemned the attack carried out by Israel against the Hamas negotiation delegation in the Qatari capital, calling it an act of aggression and a brazen violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar.
