Doha attack undermines Gaza ceasefire negotiations, says Austria
The Austrian foreign ministry on Tuesday said that Israel's attack on Doha undermines Gaza ceasefire negotiations, adding that the air strikes violate Qatar's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
"The attacks on Doha put the lives of hostages at risk and undermine the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. We call on all to refrain from any further actions that threaten regional stability," the ministry said.
Israeli air strikes hit Doha, targeting senior Hamas officials who had gathered to discuss the latest US ceasefire proposal for Gaza. The Israeli military confirmed it had carried out the strikes, saying it targeted Hamas’s senior leadership.
Hamas said that its leadership has survived Israeli air strikes, but five members of its delegation were killed, including the son of senior leader Khalil al-Hayya.
A member of Qatar's security forces was also killed, the country's interior ministry said on Tuesday.
Countries including Pakistan, the UAE and Turkey have condemned the attack carried out by Israel against the Hamas negotiation delegation in the Qatari capital, calling it an act of aggression and a brazen violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar.
