Israeli envoy defends Qatar strike, vows global hunt for Hamas
Israel’s ambassador to Washington has brushed aside US criticism of the strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar, insisting that ties with the White House remain strong.
“We’ve never had a better friend than the White House than President Trump, and we’re united in the effort of eliminating Hamas as being a threat to peace in the Middle East,” Yechiel Leiter told Fox News.
Leiter said Israel and the US “have acted together in the past” and would do so again, striking a defiant tone that underscored Israel’s willingness to pursue Hamas leaders worldwide. He claimed Netanyahu had “put them on notice.”
His remarks directly contradicted Trump’s assurance that Israel would not launch another attack on Qatari soil. Hinting otherwise, Leiter declared: “If we didn’t get them this time, we’ll get them the next time.”
