Israel admits it does not always act in US interests after Qatar strike

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations has admitted that Tel Aviv does not always act in line with Washington’s interests, brushing aside rare criticism from President Donald Trump over the strike on Hamas leaders in Qatar.

“We don’t always act in the interests of the United States. We are coordinated, they give us incredible support, we appreciate that, but sometimes we make decisions and inform the United States,” Danny Danon told Israeli radio.

Defending the attack, Danon insisted it was aimed at Hamas rather than Qatar, declaring: “The decision is the right one.”
