Six people, including a child, die of starvation in Gaza

The director-general of Gaza’s Ministry of Health told Al Jazeera Arabic that six people, including a child, have died of starvation in the past 24 hours.

Data from the World Food Programme shows that around 2.2 million people in Gaza, equivalent to the entire population, are facing critical food shortages.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification has labelled the situation in the Strip as “effective famine” after Israel closed crossings and imposed severe restrictions on humanitarian aid.
