Gaza City offensive is death sentence for one million Palestinians: MSF
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) warned that the forced expulsion of Gaza City residents - including hundreds of gravely ill patients and newborns - into overcrowded, under-resourced areas would amount to “a death sentence for one million Palestinians.”
In a statement, MSF said Israel’s relentless bombing and ground offensive are killing hundreds of Palestinians and displacing countless of people, often multiple times.
“Some of our colleagues have been displaced more than 11 times since 2023,” said Jacob Granger, Emergency coordinator for MSF in Gaza.
The charity said that an estimated one million displaced people now occupy just 15 percent of Gaza’s territory.
“MSF continues to distribute water in the city but, with no water reserves left, if the Israeli forces make drinkable water production and distribution impossible, people will die in a matter of days,” Granger added.
Israel has destroyed nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s water and sanitation systems, worsening conditions and fuelling outbreaks of disease such as acute diarrhoea in overcrowded areas, according to MSF.
