Erdogan tells Doha summit that region must become self-sufficient

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for regional self-sufficiency and cooperation across many areas of development and the economy. 

He told the joint Arab-Islamic summit in Doha that economic pressure must be exerted on Israel, stating that such pressure had proven successful in the past. He also said that displacement, genocide and partition of the Palestinian people cannot be accepted. 

“There is a greedy, bloodthirsty mentality among Israeli officials,” he added. 

Erdogan also said that Israeli aggression poses a direct threat to the region, and that any decisions made during the summit should be translated into written declarations addressed to the global community.
