Israelis warned Americans of Qatar strike before jets were in the air: Report
Axios, citing unnamed Israeli officials, reported on Monday that Tel Aviv warned Washington about a planned strike on the Hamas political bureau in Doha, Qatar, before its jets were on their way to the target.
The White House denied that claim to Axios, saying the Pentagon only learned of the attack while it was in progress.
This comes as Israeli Channel 12 on Monday reported that Mossad Chief David Barnea opposed the strike on Qatar, and argued the meeting of Hamas leadership to review a US-backed Israeli proposal that day could have advanced negotiations to free the captives in Gaza.
That view, Channel 12 said, was shared by Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir and National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defence Minister Israel Katz, and the Shin Bet - the domestic law enforcement arm - supported the strike.
