Normalisation not on the table with Israel: Syria's Sharaa

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa responded on Wednesday to the new security proposal submitted by Israel one day earlier, saying he is considering the parameters but that "normalisation is not currently on the table". 

He added that a security agreement with Israel is "necessary" and "must respect [Syria's] airspace and territorial integrity". 

"Security talks with Israel may yield results in the coming days, and if the security agreement is successful, other agreements may be reached," Sharaa said.

Washington, he stressed, is "not pressuring us to reach an agreement with Israel".
