US to deport pro-Palestine activist who led Columbia University protest
Pro-Palestine activist Mahmoud Khalil will be deported to Algeria or Syria, as per the order of an immigration judge in the United States, Al Jazeera has reported.
Judge Jamee Comans issued the ruling on September 12, accusing Khalil of failing to disclose key information when he applied and secured lawful permanent residency in the United States.
Khalil, who played a leading role in protests against Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza at Columbia University in the US, had previously said he fears being targeted by Israel for his activism if he’s deported.
