Israeli crackdown on occupied West Bank ramping up, United Nations says
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (Ocha-Opt) said in its latest report released on Thursday that Israel has significantly ramped up its crackdown on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, in tandem with its intensifying attacks on Gaza.
The report's key points include:
- The killing of 186 Palestinians in since the start of 2025;
- The installation of 27 new closures including 18 road gates which "pose a serious risk of movement restrictions if closed, potentially further disrupting access to services, workplaces, and key road arteries such as Road 60";
- Settlers attacking 25 Palestinians in one week, injuring 13 and displacing 33 others;
- Israeli authorities "punitively" demolishing or sealing off eight Palestinian homes and three other structures, displacing 38 people, including 16 children; and
- Israeli forces issuing a demolition order against a school, and raiding two other schools in Hebron governorate.
