Here are the day's key developments:
- Health officials have confirmed that Israel has killed at least 50 Palestinians across Gaza since dawn on Thursday, bringing the total number of deaths since 7 October 2023 to nearly 65,200.
- The military wing of Hamas, the al-Qassam Brigades, issued a statement saying that it will not attempt to save the lives of Israeli captives in Gaza City "as long as Netanyahu has decided to kill them" with his latest military operation in the area.
- The Israeli military said it will carry out attacks in southern Lebanon, and has called on people to leave their homes in a number of areas.
- Two Israeli soldiers have been shot dead at the border crossing between the occupied West Bank and neighbouring Jordan.
- The US has vetoed for the sixth time a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and that Israel lift all restrictions on the delivery of aid into the enclave.
- US President Donald Trump has reportedly authorised former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to rally regional support for a plan to establish a transitional body to govern Gaza until it is eventually handed over to the Palestinian Authority, according to The Times of Israel.
