Berlin concert highlights Gaza children killed in Israeli war

Musicians in Berlin staged a classical concert on World Children’s Day to draw attention to the suffering of children killed in Israel’s war on Gaza.

The Music for Humanity initiative, which organised the performance, said the German capital was turned into “a place of solidarity, humanity, and music”.

Professional and amateur performers played both classical and traditional Arabic pieces, according to Anadolu news agency.

Organisers urged an immediate ceasefire, protection for children and civilians in Gaza, and an end to German weapons exports to Israel.

UNICEF estimates that since October 2023, more than 50,000 children have been killed or wounded in Gaza, with hundreds of thousands now facing life-threatening malnutrition.
