Israeli police arrest former Palestinian member of parliament
Israeli police arrested Palestinian politician and former member of the Israeli parliament Haneen Zoabi on Sunday.
Policy officers arrested her from her home in Nazareth in the early hours of Sunday, “on suspicion of incitement to terrorism”.
Her attorney, Hassan Jabareen, director of Adalah Legal Centre, said the arrest lacked any legal basis or substantive justification.
He added that it was done for political and media interests.
According to police, the former Knesset member and leader of the Palestinian party Balad was detained in relation to statements she made "during a speech at an anti-Israel conference abroad."
