Report: Nearly 40 percent of Americans think US is too supportive of Israel

Compared to last year, more Americans say the United States is providing Israel with too much support and military aid in its war on Gaza, according to a survey by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

Fifty-three percent of Democrats said the United States gives Israel too much support, up from 40 percent last year, while the share of Independents who agree rose to 42 percent from 34 percent.

By contrast, 47 percent of Republicans now say the United States strikes the right balance in its support, up from 23 percent a year ago.

The survey also found that 60 percent of Democrats and 43 percent of Independents believe the United States should provide more humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.
