White House: Trump says recognition of Palestine rewards Hamas
White House representative Karoline Leavitt on Monday said that President Trump considers recognition of a Palestinian state a reward for Hamas, news agency AFP reported.
"As for western countries that recognise a Palestinian state, President Trump has made it clear that he does not agree," Leavitt said.
Trump believes that recognising a Palestinian state will not contribute to the release of captives or ending the war, and views it as a reward for Hamas, she added.
The representative said that the American president would address the UN General Assembly on Tuesday about this decision taken by several Western nations to let them know that these are "just words and not enough concrete actions."
