GCC: Any attack on a Gulf state is an attack on us all

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi on Wednesday said that any aggression against a Gulf state is an aggression against all GCC countries, Anadolu news agency reported.

"The partnership between GCC states and the US is a strategic necessity that ensures security," Albudaiwi said during a meeting of the GCC foreign ministers with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly session in New York.

He also reiterated the Gulf bloc's condemnation of the 9 September Israeli attack on the Qatari capital Doha, which killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. 

Albudaiwi said there is a need for an "immediate and comprehensive ceasefire" in Gaza, where Israel has killed more than 65,400 Palestinians since October 2023.
