Houthis say they fired 'Palestine 2 hypersonic missile' at Israel

Yemen’s Houthi group on Monday claimed responsibility for launching a hypersonic ballistic missile at targets in Israel.

A Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile with multiple warheads was fired at the Tel Aviv area, the Yemeni movement said in a statement.

The group said the strikes were carried out in response to the "crimes of genocide and the dangerous escalation carried out by the Israeli enemy against our people in the Gaza Strip”, the Houthis said, adding they would “continue to fulfil our religious, moral, and humanitarian duties until the aggression against Gaza stops”.

The Israeli military said that it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, and that sirens were sounded across central Israel.

"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas of Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted," it said in a statement on Telegram.

On 24 September, at least 20 people were wounded after a drone crashed and exploded in the southern Israeli port city of Eilat.

The following day, officials of the Houthi movement Ansar Allah, said that eight people had been killed and 142 others wounded in an attack by Israel on Yemen's capital Sanaa.

Israeli forces deployed 20 fighter jets to attack 60 targets, including Houthi military leaders, command headquarters and weapons depots, Israel's Channel 14 reported.
