Israel rearresting dozens of Palestinians freed during previous ceasefire

Israel has been re-arresting dozens of Palestinians who were freed during the previous Gaza ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS).

The group said that Israel is escalating its targeting of Palestinians released earlier this year with new waves of arrests and interrogations.

According to PPS, at least 40 people freed in January and February have since been re-arrested, with 16 still in custody. 

The vast majority of Palestinians arrested by Israel are held without charge or trial.
