Pakistan's foreign minister distances Islamabad from Trump's Gaza plan
Pakistan's foreign minister has distanced Islamabad from US President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan.
"This is not the document we sent them. There are key areas we want covered… and if they are not covered now, they will be included," Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Tuesday.
Dar's comments come after Pakistan joined other Arab and Muslim countries in a statement welcoming Trump's 20 point plan to end Israel's genocide in Gaza.
Arab and Muslim countries say they were blindsided by changes Trump made to the plan after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
Dar said the immediate objectives of the plan are "a ceasefire, stopping the bloodshed, allowing the flow of humanitarian aid, and ending forced displacement."
He said Trump's announcement came from "their side," adding that Pakistan and other Arab and Muslim countries stood by their commitments to the US.
"We issued a joint statement on behalf of eight countries. We stand by that statement. If there are any differences, we will adhere to what we agreed upon," he said.
