Hanan Ashrawi says Israel’s flotilla raid is piracy

Hanan Ashrawi, the veteran Palestinian activist and former PLO executive committee member, has condemned Israel’s assault on the Gaza aid flotilla as a “criminal act of piracy” carried out in international waters.

Ashrawi hailed “those brave men and women” aboard the flotilla, saying they are standing up to Israel’s genocide and its unlawful blockade of Gaza.

“They’re putting their lives on the line by actively intervening [and] demonstrating the real meaning of solidarity [and] human empathy,” she said.
