The UK says it is 'very concerned' as its citizens are among those aboard Gaza-bound flotilla ships

The UK has said it is “very concerned” after Israel intercepted vessels in the Gaza-bound aid flotilla, confirming that British citizens are among those on board.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said officials were in contact with the families of several nationals involved. “The aid carried by the flotilla should be turned over to humanitarian organisations on the ground to be delivered safely into Gaza,” the statement added.

Organisers of the flotilla condemned Israel’s actions, calling them “illegal” since the boats were in international waters.

They said live streams and communications with several vessels had been cut, while others had been confirmed intercepted by Israeli naval forces. Some ships are still believed to be heading towards Gaza.
