Evening recap

Our live blog will shortly be closing until tomorrow morning.

Here are the day's key developments:

  • Hamas said it is ready to release all Israeli captives, and that the group is willing to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a “Palestinian body of independent technocrats”.

  • Responding to US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, the group said it was prepared to “immediately engage in negotiations through mediators” to discuss the details of the release.

  • US President Trump welcomed Hamas's statement and said that Israel must now stop bombing Gaza to get the captives out.

  • Israeli attacks continued to bomb Gaza City, killing at least 72 people across the Gaza Strip.

  • Israeli forces killed 20 Palestinian police officers pursuing a criminal gang involved in killing citizens and mutilating their corpses in Khan Younis.

  • Israeli forces arrested activist Itamar Greenberg, along with other fellow demonstrators, during a protest march to Gaza in an effort to break the years-long siege.

  • Israel began deporting hundreds of detained activists from the aid flotilla bound for Gaza, shortly after the interception of the group's final boat, bringing an end to its mission.

  • A new poll shows that a majority of Democratic voters backed restricting imports of Israeli-made weapons and cybersecurity software.
