Spain to file complaint at ICC regarding events on Sumud flotilla
Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said on Monday that the country will file a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the events of the Global Sumud Flotilla, Al Jazeera Arabic reported.
"Any attack on persons in international waters constitutes a deprivation of liberty under domestic and international law," Marlaska said.
More than 400 activists, parliamentarians and lawyers were detained after Israeli forces intercepted the Gaza-bound aid flotilla earlier this week.
Some of the detainees have since been deported, while proceedings for others are ongoing.
Spanish activists on the flotilla alleged on Monday that they had suffered mistreatment and violation of their rights by Israeli authorities.
Earlier, Sweden's Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard said that allegations regarding the abusive treatment of climate activist Greta Thunberg are "very serious" if confirmed.
