US surveillance flights over Gaza taking off from Egyptian airport: Report
New reporting by journalist Matt Kennard, published by Palestine Deep Dive, reveals that US surveillance flights over Gaza have been taking off from an airport in Egypt's Sinai.
The US military, Kennard wrote, is using an obscure airport 13 miles from Gaza to fly surveillance missions around the enclave under the guise of a peacekeeping force.
Kennard said a US spy plane landed at Hatzor military base in Israel 13 times from Egypt, but that on 31 August, the pilot "forgot" to turn his transponder off, "circling off the coast of Gaza for an hour as Gaza City was attacked".
The plane, he said, is similar to the ones the British have been sending over Gaza since December 2023.
