Turkish FM says Gaza ceasefre could be declared as early as Wednesday evening
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in Ankara on Wednesday that "a lot of headway" has been made in the current talks on a Gaza ceasefire being held in Egypt.
He added that a ceasefire could even be declared this evening, local time in Egypt, if a deal is agreed upon.
“If the consensus is reached today, the ceasefire will be brokered,” Fidan said.
Negotiators from all involved parties have been meeting since Monday.
The head of Turkish intelligence joined the talks on Wednesday, along with the Qatari prime minister, signalling significant progress.
