Gaza ceasefire deal approved by Israeli government
The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the Gaza ceasefire deal agreed upon one day earlier in Egypt.
The ceasefire went into effect in the enclave immediately, at 1:30am local time, with Al Araby TV's correspondent there confirming that the skies have gone quiet.
Hamas will release all Israeli captives in the next 72 hours, and in exchange, will receive 250 Palestinian prisoners given life sentences, as well as more than 1,000 captives from Gaza who were captured after 7 October 2023.
