Trump does not want Gaza to have a military force, Israeli media reports

US President Donald Trump wants Gaza to have a government but not a military force, Haaretz reported on Friday, citing senior US officials. 

Arab countries have guaranteed Hamas's disarmament, the official said.

Turkey, Qatar and other countries will regulate Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip, but American forces will not enter the Strip, they said.

The Israeli government on Thursday approved the Gaza ceasefire deal, which went into effect in the enclave immediately.

Hamas said it will release all Israeli captives in the next 72 hours, and in exchange, will receive 250 Palestinian prisoners given life sentences, as well as more than 1,000 captives from Gaza who were captured after 7 October 2023.
