An estimated 55m tonnes of rubble needs to be cleared from Gaza
Around 55 million tonnes of debris has to be cleared before reconstruction efforts in Gaza can begin, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) estimates after a visit on Thursday.
The overwhelming majority of Gaza has been reduced to rubble. In Gaza City alone, more than 80 percent of buildings have been damaged in following Israel’s attacks - particulalry in the past several weeks.
