Confront any Israeli incursion, Lebanon President tells army
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Thursday instructed the commander of the army to "confront any Israeli incursion into southern Lebanon", after Israeli forces crossed the border overnight, entered the municipal building and killed an employee.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the incident, calling it “a blatant attack on the institutions and sovereignty of the Lebanese state”.
Israel on Thursday carried out air strikes in the Mahmoudiyeh and Jarmak areas of southern Lebanon, as per the official National News Agency.
The Israeli military issued a statement saying it targeted Hezbollah infrastructure.
Israeli soldiers on Thursday killed a municipal employee in an overnight raid in the southern Lebanese town of Blida.
