Eight-nation meeting in Turkey weighs Gaza plan and international force

Foreign ministers from eight nations are meeting in Istanbul on Monday to discuss the implementation of the Gaza "peace plan". The meeting brings together top diplomats from Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Talks are expected to centre on the October 10 ceasefire and the second phase of Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan.

The plan calls for Hamas to be disarmed and excluded from Gaza’s future governance, and for the deployment of an international stabilisation force. 

Members of the Israeli parliament's Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee were reportedly told during a briefing that the international force will be made up of soldiers from Indonesia, Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
