Turkey urges clear Gaza peace plan before joining stabilisation force
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Turkey is ready to do whatever is needed for peace in Gaza but only if a clear and fair framework is established.
Speaking after a meeting in Istanbul with ministers from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Pakistan and Indonesia, Fidan warned that the gulf between Israel and the Palestinians remains wide and cannot be bridged quickly.
He accused Israel of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire and blocking vital humanitarian aid, stressing that such actions must end if there is to be any hope of stability.
Fidan added that participating countries will decide later whether to send troops to the proposed International Stabilisation Force (ISF), part of Donald Trump’s 20-point plan to oversee security in Gaza.
However, he noted that key questions remain unanswered, including what powers the ISF would have, who would take part, and what rules of engagement it would follow.
