UN says nearly all Palestinians displaced as Israel blocks aid
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) says nearly the entire population of Gaza has been displaced, with many families returning home after the ceasefire only to find their neighbourhoods reduced to rubble.
Using satellite analysis from the United Nations Satellite Centre, Unrwa said around 81 percent of all structures in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed, a staggering reflection of the devastation caused by Israel’s assault.
Israeli bombardments have levelled homes, hospitals and water networks, leaving Gaza’s infrastructure in ruins. Despite the ceasefire, Israel continues to strangle the enclave under its siege, keeping crossings closed and blocking essential aid and reconstruction materials from entering.
