Palestinian shot by Israeli troops near illegal separation wall

Israeli forces have shot and wounded a Palestinian man in the town of ar-Ram, just north of occupied East Jerusalem, the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) reports.

According to the PRCS, the man was struck in the leg with live ammunition before being rushed to hospital for treatment.

Local sources told the Wafa news agency that Israeli soldiers had been chasing a group of Palestinian labourers near the illegal separation wall when they opened fire, injuring one of them.

The Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions said Israel’s campaign of violence against workers has intensified this year. It reported that since January, 15 Palestinian workers have been killed and hundreds more arrested and abused by Israeli police for allegedly lacking work permits.

Since October 2023, the union has documented 42 worker deaths and over 32,000 detentions, describing Israel’s treatment of Palestinian labourers as systematic persecution under occupation.
