Israel arrested 540 Palestinians from West Bank and Jerusalem in October, officials say

Israeli forces arrested 540 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem during the month of October, including 8 women and 39 children, the Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office said on Thursday. 

The office said that the total number of detainees from October 2023 exceeded 19,300, including 600 women and 1,540 children. 

Palestinian prisoners' rights groups reported that over 9,250 Palestinians are being held in Israeli custody currently. The organisations said that the majority are administrative detainees held without trial, adding that the figure does not include detainees held in Israeli military camps.

They also reported that 1,242 of those held are sentenced prisoners, 49 are women and 350 are children.
