UN warns of infection risk as Gaza’s ponds threaten to overflow
The UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs warned on Monday that possible overflowing of ponds in Gaza’s Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood could increase the risk of infections.
"Gaza’s Sheikh Radwan ponds are again at risk of overflowing – and only short-term fixes like draining sewage into the sea are possible," the agency said in a post on X.
"This raises the risk of infections," the agency added, calling for the equipment needed to repair vital systems to be allowed in.
