Israel is reportedly set to bring more than 5,800 Jewish community members from India to Israel for settlement in the Galilee region of the northern part of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Jewish Agency for Israel, an organisation that promotes Zionism globally has said that the Israeli cabinet has approved the proposal.
The Bnei Menashe Jewish community is an ethnic community from the northeastern Indian states of Mizoram and Manipur.
The report said that the plan was submitted by Immigration and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer.
A large delegation of rabbis is expected to depart for India in the coming days and the plan is expected to require a special budget to cover conversion classes, housing, and Hebrew instruction.
