Jordan's foreign ministry condemns Israel’s approval of 19 West Bank settlements
Jordan's foreign ministry says it “strongly condemns the Israeli government’s ratification of the establishment and legalisation of 19 illegal colonial settlements in the occupied West Bank”.
In a statement, the ministry described the decision as “a blatant violation of international law” and “international humanitarian law”, warning that it directly undermines “efforts for a two-state solution”.
The statement added that “Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied West Bank”, rejecting any legal or political basis for the move.
Israel’s cabinet approved the establishment and retroactive legalisation of the 19 settlements on Friday. Settlements across the occupied West Bank are regarded as illegal under international law.
