Israeli finance minister orders new construction at former West Bank settlement

Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich on Wednesday ordered the construction of 126 units in the former settlement of Sanur, located in the Jenin Governorate in the northern occupied West Bank.

Sanur settlement in the northern West Bank was evacuated in 2005.

According to a statement, the new construction plan will also include commercial areas, paved roads, and designated areas for kindergartens and schools.

Smotrich instructed the Higher Planning Council, the body responsible for approving settlement expansion and construction, to convene a meeting to discuss and approve the 126 settlement units, the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported.
