Iran and Oman discussing plan to split control of Hormuz shipping routes
Iran and Oman are discussing a plan that would give Tehran full control over inbound shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Iranian source told Reuters.
For the outbound route, Oman would clear ships for exit after notifying Iran. The plan would give Iran visibility over outbound traffic in the Strait, with the possibility to intervene if necessary.
The senior Iranian source added Tehran was unlikely to accept any other alternative to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
